PIGEON FORGE MIDDLE SCHOOL PURPOSE
At Pigeon Forge Middle School our purpose is to encourage life-long learning that promotes the success and worth of all students.
- Curriculum should be based on state and national standards.
- Instruction should be based on developmentally appropriate learning activities.
- Ongoing assessment is a vital tool for monitoring student learning.
- Assessment results should work in conjunction with the curriculum to guide classroom instruction.
In March of 2011, the Sevier County Board of Education adopted Board Policy 523 that is in effect for this school year.
BP 523 states: student scores on the TCAP for grades 3-8 shall comprise 15% of the student's final grade in the spring semester in the subject areas of mathematics, reading/language arts, science, and social studies. If these scores have not been returned by the end of school, grades will be assigned without including TCAP scores.
The entire policy may be read on the Sevier County School's website at www.sevier.org.
